Sergi Marsol is a graduate student and machine learning researcher at the Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience, University of California San Diego. He works on multimodal learning, foundation models, and large language models for biomedical AI, with a current focus on synchronized electroencephalography (EEG), eye-tracking, motion capture, and electrodermal activity recordings.
He fine-tunes transformer-based EEG and time-series foundation models. He also builds reproducible pipelines that turn large raw sensor archives into validated, machine-learning-ready datasets. Before joining the lab, he worked on biomedical and clinical NLP at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where he developed KeyCARE, an open-source library for biomedical keyword and relation extraction. He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a B.Eng. in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering from the University of Barcelona. He is pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science (AI) at UC San Diego and is a Fulbright Scholar.
